Overview
Join our team as a Food Procurement Generalist or Meat Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring the quality and availability of products for our long list of Food Service customers. These positions requires a keen eye for sourcing top-quality products while managing costs effectively. Position Summary
- Commercially manage an existing portfolio of products and suppliers, end to end as required by the business
- Identify Purchasing needs
- Source and procure high-quality products
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating favourable terms
- Monitor market trends and anticipate changes in food prices and availability, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to understand the dynamic business needs (especially the Sales team and Marketing)
- Track & Follow up on orders to ensure timely deliveries
- Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and minimise waste
- Continuously seek opportunities to optimise procurement processes and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Keep detailed records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Assist Procurement Manager where needed
- Encouraged to have a broad lens of how the Procurement team sits at the heart of the business operation and continue to look and strive for process and profit efficiencies and well as having an amazing end user (our customer) experience at the forefront of every business decision.
Additional Responsibility for the Meat Specialist role:
- If you are coming to us with Meat as your speciality, you will also be expected to help sell our meat products to our customer base and work with our salesforce and marketing team to transfer your meat knowledge so the business can continue to grow our meat portfolio.
Skills Needed
- Proven experience in Food Procurement, preferably in the food service industry and or working within the Meat industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Navision or other procurement software.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Monitor the evolving dynamics of the supply market and business needs, proactively reviewing procurement activity
- Understanding of the importance of cross functional relationships that enables meeting of teams’ objectives
- Demonstrated ability to cope with high volume workload and achieve set deadlines within a commercial environment
- Highly motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
