Food Rescue Coordinator

About the role
The purpose of this role is to coordinate and liaise as required with food donors, Food Rescue drivers, staff and agency recipients to ensure food is safely collected, sorted, packaged, labelled, transported, delivered and served on time in accordance with Food Rescue’s policy & procedures. You will also assist, provide guidance and support to volunteers to create an environment that enables a high performing team to deliver a quality and sustainable service within our Tranby Homelessness Engagement Hub kitchen.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Volunteer coordinator with recruitment and development of high quality, person-centred that match the purpose and needs of the service.
- Ensuring High quality kitchen services are delivered to people experiencing homelessness that align with service standards and best practice models.
- Demonstrate adherence to safety, food hygiene and best practice principles. safety issues are identified and incidents are reported and managed
- Drive the Food Rescue van and collect food donations in line with roster / schedule provided as and when required
- Managing daily tasks to ensure fluid running of the Tranby Kitchen and Food rescue program.
About you
- Strong understanding of person-centred, strength-based support and trauma informed practices
- Established skills in relationship building and stakeholder engagement management (internal and external)
- Excellent communication and decision making skills
- Ability to guide volunteers and ensure a positive team culture
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of food hygiene and food preparation
- Experience working in a busy kitchen/food preparation environment
- Working with homeless clients would be an advantage
- Maintenance of food order supplies
