The Opportunity
Dairy Food Safety Victoria (DFSV) is the independent statutory Authority that regulates dairy Food Safety in Victoria and plays a vital role in protecting the Victorian dairy industry's reputation for Food Safety and integrity of production domestically and for export.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Food Safety Manager (FSM) to join us as part of our Compliance and Enforcement team.
The role:
The FSM role is responsible for ensuring that Food Safety standards are maintained and improved in, primarily, dairy food manufacturing facilities as governed by legislation and standards. As such, the role also acts as an Authorised Officer within the powers provided by the Victorian Dairy and Food Acts.
In addition, and as part of the team, the role has responsibility for contributing to projects advancing the regulation of dairy Food Safety within the Victorian and national industry, as well as assisting in the development and implementation of DFSV’s future digital regulatory strategy.
The successful applicant for this role will be responsible for:
- Undertaking compliance monitoring activities at, primarily, dairy food manufacturing sites, including verification audits under the Dairy Act 2000, and the management of non-conformances.
- Managing notifications of potential regulatory compliance issues and consumer complaints,
- Contributing to regulatory projects to improve and modernise the regulation of dairy Food Safety in Victoria,
- Developing and maintaining productive, collaborative relationships internally and externally with licensees, DFSV service providers and other key government departments to continue to build on DFSV’s reputation as an innovative and contemporary regulator.
Key requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in dairy, agricultural, food science and/or Food Safety, or similar
- Relevant experience in a government regulatory environment.
- Qualifications leading to registration as an approved auditor under the National Auditor Competency Framework would be an advantage.
- Strong relationship management, interpersonal skills and a team player
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and logical thought processes to analyse and solve problems.
- Ability to interpret & apply legislation
- Victorian drivers’ licence
