They are an Insolvency, Restructuring & Forensic Accounting firm with Australian and International offices who specialise exclusively on turnaround and recovery strategies, corporate and personal insolvency, Forensic Accounting and litigation support services.
About the opportunity
In this role, you will supervise, execute and complete client engagements, with responsibility for conducting accounting and financial analysis, and presenting your findings in a short report. You will have visibility across the whole engagement, allowing you to appreciate how each aspect of the engagement comes together to deliver a high-quality final product that can withstand the scrutiny of legal procedures.
In line with the complexity of the matter, you will be assisted by and supervise the work of junior staff. You will work directly with senior members of the team who will support and guide you throughout the engagement. Your professional development will be enhanced through internal and external training, on-the-job coaching and mentoring. You will develop a strong knowledge of the legal process, especially with regard to litigation and providing expert opinions, while making use of your established analytical, accounting and finance skills.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct financial analysis using Microsoft Excel and other tools to solve problems, include assessing loss and damage suffered by businesses;
- Analyse and interpret large volumes of information, including accounting, financial and banking records;
- Review financial statements for compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and prepare draft expert reports, client reports and presentations that detail project scope, methodology and findings;
- Apply discounted cash flow methodology for the valuation of business and quantification of loss and damage;
- Interact and meet with clients, including lawyers, in house counsel and senior accounting personnel; and
- Supervise the work of junior staff and provide coaching to junior team members;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related disciplines;
- Australia or internationally recognised professional accounting qualification;
- 5 years of professional accounting experience, including experience in Forensic Accounting, business valuations, auditing and/or management accounting;
- Strong understanding of, and interest in, Forensic Accounting as well as detailed knowledge of accounting principles;
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills as well as strong attention to detail and ability to handle and analyse complex financial information;
- Adaptability in a fast paced and dynamic working environment; and
- Experience of leading small teams;
