Forensic Clinical Specialist

Full Time (Part Time 0.8 FTE considered)

The Team: 

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, forming part of Mildura Base Public Hospital, offers a range of inpatient and community-based services for people with mental illness in the Northern Mallee Region.

The Role: 

The Mildura Base Public Hospital Forensic Clinical Specialist role is part of a state-wide Forensic Clinical Specialist program, coordinated by Forensicare. The position is full-time, however part-time (0.8 FTE) application would be considered.

The Forensic Clinical Specialist role aims to build capacity and boost forensic mental health expertise and best practice within the mental health & wellbeing service. This role provides a resource of skills, knowledge and support for staff to enhance the service’s ability to provide considered assessment, care and treatment responses for consumers with a forensic history and risks including highly complex problems associated with co-morbid mental health, high risk behaviours and offending issues (historical, current or emerging). 

This position will take on a clinical leadership role and be available to provide specialist advice and secondary consultation for this particular population of consumers and people with at risk behaviours.

Each Forensic Clinical Specialist position receives extensive support, training and mentoring in forensic mental health provided by Forensicare and collaborative support from other FCS clinicians across the state.

This position is classified as a RPN5, OT4, SW4 or PSY4 under the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement.

Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 5 : $60.10 per hour
Occupational Therapist Grade 4 : $57.98 per hour - $63.88 per hour
Social Worker Grade 4 : $57.98 per hour - $63.88 per hour
Psychologist Grade 4 : $58.11 per hour - $65.10 per hour

To be successful in this role:

Applicants will be currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), Occupational Therapist or Psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency – AHPRA or currently eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers. 

Candidates will be experienced and motivated Mental Health Clinicians with experience working with people with complex mental health presentations and familiarity with offending behaviours and/or understanding of the justice system. 

Post graduate qualifications or previous work experience in a relevant role or setting will be highly regarded.
