About the role

We have an exciting opportunity in our southern region in the role of Forest Officer Planning. This position Assists in delivery of the regional wood production plans to meet agreed targets in a safe, commercial and environmentally sound manner.  

This position is a great opportunity for both recent graduates and experienced professionals alike. For recent graduates, it offers a chance to gain valuable hands-on experience and launch a rewarding career in forestry. For experienced professionals, it provides the opportunity to contribute your skills and knowledge to a vital industry while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at either our Derwent Park of Geeveston Office. The role will see the successful person spending their time between the field and office providing the successful applicant a great variety of work! Some intrastate travel will be required on occasion.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve safe, commercially viable, and environmentally sound forest operations.
  • Develop and implement plans to meet wood supply targets, adhering to relevant legislation and forest certification standards.
  • Prepare Forest Practices Plans to ensure compliant and effective forestry operations.
  • Conduct audits and report on compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain accurate forest information systems.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in a relevant discipline or experience in a similar role.
  • Certificate II in Public Safety would be desirable (Firefighting Operations).
  • Forest Practices Officer Inspecting accreditation (or willingness to obtain it).
  • The ability to deliver commercial forestry practices and oversee contractor operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to safety, the environment, and quality
