Primary objective
To provide high quality and timely policy development and advice on all strategic policy and legislative matters to support
Building Advisory Services Branch to deliver core and statutory functions.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate, develop and manage a range of policy projects and Government responses to complex and sensitive building
policy and regulation issues.
2. Undertake high quality research and analysis of local and national policy and legislative issues and developments.
3. Provide high level strategic advice on the full spectrum of building regulation and industry issues.
4. Prepare Cabinet Submissions, Ministerial briefs, high level reports and industry papers on complex and strategic policy
issues affecting the Territory.
5. Maintain ongoing working relationships and networks across industry groups to maintain awareness of emerging issues
and cooperation in policy development.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed strategic, conceptual, analytical and collaborative skills including the ability to interpret and manage the
social, political and organisational environment.
2. High level project management skills with the ability to respond to constantly changing deadlines and priorities.
3. Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills to manage relationships across industry, government and community
stakeholders.
4. Highly developed oral and written communication skills to provide advice across diverse agendas at the highest levels,
with the ability to present a case logically, succinctly, accurately and in a manner suited to a variety of stakeholders.
5. High level ability to be politically astute and pragmatic in the provision of high level policy advice while maintaining the
highest standards of ethics and accountability.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification relevant to the position (e.g. Public Policy, Law, Business or Public Administration).
