Front Page Editors who select the best stories from across the ABC for Australians to enjoy. This role will see you edit and curate the national
Front Page of the ABC News website and app, including top stories, features and other sections. You will use your sharp instinct in story selection, while managing relationships across a broad range of teams. It will also give you an opportunity to work with other front-
Page Editors to help formulate and communicate the ABC News
Front Page strategy. We're looking for someone who is passionate about finding new ways of presenting the ABC's storytelling to current and new audiences. With training and support, you'll become an expert headline tester, a master of interpreting analytics to maximise reader engagement and will hone your skills in refining story sells to give them the best shot for success.The role will also involve:
- Catering to audience needs on different devices and platforms by ensuring the best experience possible on mobile web, News App, and desktop.
- Maintaining the front-page breaking and live-streaming tickers to ensure swift delivery of breaking news to audiences.
- Formulating best-practice advice and feedback on headline writing and testing and story sells.
- Monitoring the nine Front Pages of the website to ensure the seamless delivery of news across the country.
- Working with colleagues in product & technology teams to continually improve the front-page experience for the audience.
About YouWe are seeking a Front-
Page Editor with experience in a digital news environment with an advanced ability to produce engaging, digital-first content. Experience in front-page editing is not a must but you'll need a strong understanding of the way news stories are presented online.
You will also have:- A passion to highlight authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community, including stories that reflect a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Indigenous communities
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and under pressure in a breaking news environment.
