Katunga Fresh Trading Pty Ltd is a Victorian-based company operating within the horticultural sector. The company is a large-scale producer of tomatoes for the Australian market. We currently have vacancies for a Fruit Picker at out Katunga production facility in Victoria.
Position Description - Fruit Picker
The Fruit Picker position harvests tomatoes and prepares the produce for distribution. The position is responsible for selecting tomatoes according to size and ripeness, discarding rotting and over-ripened produce, grading, sorting and packing tomato produce into containers as well as preparing produce for loading onto logistic trucks for distribution.
The Fruit Picker role includes the following duties:
- Planting tomato vines using hand tools and farm machinery;
- Constructing trellises for climbing tomato vines;
- Operating machinery to cultivate and harvest tomatoes;
- De-leafing by thinning row crops and pruning vines as appropriate;
- Selecting and picking tomatoes according to size and ripeness and discarding rotting and over-ripened produce;
- Grading, sorting, bunching and packing tomato produce into containers;
- Managing output of produce packing shed, including quality control through batch checks;
- Complying with occupational, health and safety requirements in the workplace.
- At least one year of work experience undertaken in Australia;
- AQF Certificate I, or compulsory secondary education, or at least one year of work experience undertaken in Australia may substitute for formal qualifications;
- Proficiency in the English language;
- Excellent communication - both written and verbal;
- Strong understanding of workplace WHS procedures;
- Ability to commute to Katunga in Regional Victoria daily for work.
We currently have vacancies for the position of Fruit Picker. The salary level on offer for the positions ranges from $50,000.00 $70,000.00 per annum (plus superannuation) based on experience.
