WHO WOULD YOU BE WORKING WITH
For over 7 years we have been EnviroDNA – Australia’s first dedicated commercial provider of environmental DNA (eDNA) services. We are a purpose driven business and as the name suggests, eDNA is at the heart of what we do. We help private, not for profit and government organisations detect species and map biodiversity with groundbreaking results.
We are in the early stages of the company’s growth, busy with platform and process development, market/product/service development and R&D activities to bring valuable solutions to our clients.
Role Mission
Develop critical internal and external computational resources that will supercharge the company’s ability to scale, implement best practice approaches, undertake research and development, and deliver data analytics solutions that build EnviroDNA’s market leadership.
Responsibilities
Full stack development – cross-company system integration in collaboration with our Service Delivery, Lab and Data Science teams. Development of software solutions to support internal team operations, and client portals to deliver exceptional client experiences.
Databases and cloud computing – development, validation, and deployment of robust, scalable, and secure business and biodiversity data analytics through a centralised cloud-based database system housing our eDNA detection data.
Data visualisationsand tools – processing, visualising and integrating geospatial data that can scale with business needs. Development of tools that support data exploration, ground truthing eDNA datasets, and the integration of other biodiversity and environmental datasets.
Data science – contribute to the data science team’s business strategy goals.
Role Outcomes
- Increased efficiency in processing and ground truthing eDNA datasets leading to a decrease in project delivery timeframes.
- Integration of systems to enable scaling, improved workflows, QC/QA certification, and overall improved client experience.
- Deployment of an interactive database that captures spatial and biodiversity data leading to new business intelligence and opportunities.
Requirements
- Experience (>3 years) in full-stack development, cloud provisioning and deployment, and database design and administration.
- Proficiency in JavaScript (e.g., NodeJS and React), PostgreSQL and AWS (or similar), and (desirable) R, GraphQL, and NextFlow.
- Enterprise geospatial capabilities (desirable).
- Experience or interest in biodiversity analytics (desirable).
- Strong grasp of coding standards and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a start-up environment or with small teams.
- A natural team player who resonates with our company values and purpose.
