Full-time Paralegal required to support our legal team

Job Summary
The Paralegal assists lawyers in all aspects of file management and document preparation including drafting routine documents, typing dictation, collection of information relevant to matters and liaising with clients.
The Role
- On instruction from the lawyer, draft legal documents and correspondence for review and settlement by the lawyer.
- Type up correspondence and other documents from lawyer dictation.
- Proof-read, verify and edit all documentation for accuracy and clarity.
- Co-ordinate requests between multiple parties involved in a matter by way of full communication with the client and other lawyers/parties as necessary.
- Compile disclosure documents.
- Conduct research tasks.
- Handle confidential information professionally and consistent with legal and ethical policies.
- Ensure all outgoing documentation is recorded in FilePro, and incoming documentation scanned into FilePro as necessary.
- Maintain an accurate record of time expended on matters in FilePro.
- Update client data in FilePro as necessary.
- Maintain client hard copy files in strict accordance with the firm’s procedures.
- Maintain a good working relationship with clients.
- Filing and photocopying as required. Majority to be completed by receptionist.
- Check online Court lists regularly.
- Check lawyer’s calendar in Outlook daily and assist with preparation for client consultations and court attendances
- Undertake Outside Clerk duties if receptionist is unavailable
- Handle incoming telephone calls as and when necessary
- Take accurate and detailed messages from incoming callers and pass on to the lawyer by email
- Other duties as may be requested from time to time
Essential Skills and Experience
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional grammar and writing skills.
- Knowledge of Family Court procedures, rules and regulations.
- Resourceful research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position.
- Well-groomed and well-spoken.
- Experience in the use of FilePro (or similar) legal practice management software.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
