About Us

Warm and welcoming, ANTARA 128 is a bakery and eating house open from dawn to dusk. The service moves through the day, starting with the on-site bakery in the morning before progressing into the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect to work with honest ingredients, pasta and a woodfire. Laidback, yet with polish to our service, we’re a touch of Europe mixed with Melbourne.

Our group boasts a collection of world-class hospitality venues including one hat restaurant ARU, newly redesigned restaurant SUNDA_, sustainable wine bar PARCS, gluten-free bakery KUDO and the Grand Heritage Hotel Windsor, each offering unique experiences for our valued guests.

The Opportunity   

We are seeking a talented Sommelier with a refined palate who embodies a genuine passion for exceptional wines. As a member of our close-knit and dynamic Front of House team, you will collaborate with some of the finest professionals in the industry. In addition to showcasing your expertise in wine selection and service, you will play a vital role in managing and organising our wine program. Your knowledge and experience will also be shared with our FOH team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Your day-to-day:

  • Develop and maintain an extensive and diverse wine list that complements our menu offerings.
  • Offer knowledgeable and personalised wine recommendations to guests, considering their preferences, budget and menu choices.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless food and wine pairing, considering the flavour profiles, textures and aromas of both.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring all guest requests or concerns are handled professionally and promptly.
  • Conduct regular tastings and research to expand your expertise and stay updated on current wine trends and emerging producers.
  • Train and educate staff members on wine service, proper storage and wine pairing techniques.
  • Manage the wine inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels and proper storage.

 Our successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a sommelier in a restaurant of a similar calibre.
  • An extensive knowledge of wines, wine regions, varietals and vintages.
  • A strong understanding of food and wine pairing principles, flavour profiles and culinary trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with guests, explain wine selections and build rapport.
  • A demonstrated ability to curate and manage a diverse and well-rounded wine list.
  • Exceptional organisational skills to maintain our wine inventory, monitor stock levels and place orders.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
  • A WSET, CMS or similar wine-related qualification will be highly regarded.
