Job description

We are seeking an experienced Functions Manager to join our team at Tippler & Co on a part-time basis, approximately 15 hours per week. As a Functions Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and develop our event operations, create remarkable guest experiences, and drive business growth through effective business development, including weddings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Event Management:
    • Handle all event inquiries via email and other communication channels.
    • Coordinate and plan events, including weddings, corporate functions, and private parties.
    • Ensure flawless execution of events, from setup to teardown, to deliver memorable experiences.
    • Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to customise menus and service plans for each event.
  • Business Development:
    • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to generate new event bookings, with a particular focus on weddings.
    • Make outbound calls and send emails to secure functions, ensuring monthly and quarterly targets are met.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients, event planners, and industry partners.
    • Attend industry events and networking activities to promote Tippler & Co's event services.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate the event staff to provide exceptional service.
    • Foster a culture of excellence in guest service and event execution.
    • Effectively manage event budgets, staffing requirements, and resources.
  • Point of Contact and Night Work:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for event clients, ensuring their needs are met throughout the planning and execution process.
    • Be available for night work when required to oversee and ensure the success of evening events.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure that all events adhere to health and safety regulations.
    • Maintain proper documentation and permits for events as required.
    • Address any safety concerns or issues promptly.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in event management, including business development, with a focus on weddings, in a high-end restaurant, event venue, or hospitality setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and staying current with event planning trends and best practices.
  • Proficiency in guest service excellence and event logistics.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet and exceed sales targets and KPIs.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
