About Us

Since 2003, Soul Hub has provided a Convergence of Help for individuals experiencing homelessness, risk of homelessness, addiction, social isolation and mental health issues in Newcastle. The Soul Hub charity volunteers provide approximately 50,000+ meals a year to members of our community. Our meals are a catalyst that allow us to support our guests on a deeper level. Soul Hub is completely community funded and at present receives no government funding. This is a brand new role for Soul Hub and represents a significant investment in the next chapter of our charity.

The Role

Soul Hub is looking for an exceptionally enthusiastic and experienced fundraiser to add to our staff team. This person will be passionate about fundraising and Community Engagement. This person will love a challenge and be highly adaptable; no two days are the same at Soul Hub.

Soul Hub has a clear and well understood culture and strategy for Community Engagement. Soul also has a well establish effective calendar of fundraising and Community Engagement activities. We are looking for a highly motivated person to:

• firstly adopt our established culture and calendar
• secondly add value to what is currently established and lead Soul into new fundraising and Community Engagement opportunities  

This role will be supported by the General Manager, staff team & Trustee board. 

Key tasks will include:

• Telling the Soul story to Newcastle. (Guest, Volunteer & Donor stories)
• Initiate, coordinate and manage fundraising in general
• Initiate, coordinate and manage fundraising events & activities (like Sleepout for Soul, Soul calendar, tap points, winter appeal, Christmas appeal and more)
• Organise event sponsorship (like Sleepout for Soul, Friday Chill, A Taste of Soul, and more)
• Working with volunteers
• Researching, applying for and acquitting grants (and sponsorships)
• Following up leads, donor enquiries, sponsor enquires, etc 
• Networking with the Newcastle community to raise awareness of 
  • Soul Hub’s core business
  • Soul Hub’s needs
  • Soul Hub’s opportunities for donation, sponsorship & partnership.
• Exploring (new) opportunities for Soul to engage with the community. 
• Ensure positive donor/sponsor experience in all aspects of Soul Hub activities
• Working in a team-oriented environment with the ability to exercise a large amount of autonomy with integrity. 
• Assisting with continuous process improvement initiatives

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrable experience and skills. 
• A passion for fundraising and Community Engagement. You must love what you do.
• Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver complex initiatives to deadline
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Computer literacy

Desirable

• Excellent time management and organization
• Excellent resilience and self-care skills
• Competency with Excel, Grassrootz, Canva, Mailchip, Wordpress and Meta are all desirable. Experience with similar platforms is also desirable. 
• Project management skills. 
• Experience interpreting and applying employment related agreements and awards, policies, and procedures, to payroll related matters including salary, leave entitlements and conditions. Adhering to company policies and procedures
