Funeral Assistant
The role of a Funeral Assistant is vital to ensure the professionalism and high-quality standard that Burstows takes pride in delivering to our families and communities, whilst providing you with a rewarding vocation. Although no previous industry experience needed, the role will require:

This role will entail, but not limited to:
- Setting up for the funeral services both within our facility, as well as at external churches and chapels
- Providing support to our Funeral Arrangement Consultants (Funeral Directors) and assisting them before, during and after the funeral service as required
- Offering guidance and support to the families and communities we serve
- Providing a transfer service for the deceased, from home or hospital, through to our client's care (including after hours and weekends)
- Assist with the detailing of company vehicles to ensure first class presentation.
- The need to be physically capable (lifting & set ups at gravesides including placing framework around graves, lowering device in place, placing chairs and erecting shade)
- Role may require assistance on weekend funerals and flexibility with hours on weekdays to meet the requirements of our services (e.g., early starts, late finish).
Commencing in the role as a Funeral Assistant, we will be looking for the succesful team member to develop skills and knowledge to enable career progression to a Funeral Director/Arranger.
Importantly this role requires superior stakeholder communication skills, to ensure understanding of all requirements, whilst multitasking to meet timeframes and deliver on high expectations.
This role will require a police check and pre-employment medical to ensure the standard of fitness required (e.g., Can you complete ten consecutive push-ups? Can you lift 20kg and hold a squat position? Do you regularly exercise? Do you participate in physical sporting activities?). Given the level of professionalism, support and care we offer our families we are also a smoke free workplace.
