Futsal Coach

Seeking skilled and experienced Futsal Coaches on a casual/part-time basis to join our Sports Team at the Islamic College of Brisbane!

The Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) is a rapidly growing school of more than 160 staff and facilities for students from Prep to Year 12 with approximately 1600 students. The community-centered College, which was established in 1995 in response to parent demand for a local faith-based school, is located on the southern outskirts of Brisbane in the suburb of Karawatha, about 20km south-east of the Brisbane CBD.

Position Purpose:
As a Futsal Coach, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive environment for our students, promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement engaging Futsal training sessions that cater to varying skill levels, ensuring the holistic development of our students both on and off the field. Additionally, you will contribute to the creation of a supportive and culturally sensitive atmosphere that aligns with the values of the Islamic College of Brisbane. General Selection Criteria:
1. Team Selection and Training Schedule Development:  

• Collaborate with the sport coordinator to assist in the selection of Futsal teams, considering skill levels and team dynamics.
• Develop a comprehensive and well-balanced training schedule that aligns with the academic calendar and allows for the progressive skill development of players.

2. Captaincy Recommendations and Oversight:

• Make informed recommendations for team captains, considering leadership qualities, sportsmanship, and commitment.
• Provide guidance and oversight to team captains, ensuring they fulfill their roles effectively and contribute positively to team dynamics.

3. Program Engagement:

• Attend all Futsal program activities, including coaches' meetings, training sessions, and matches.
• Actively participate in the planning and execution of program events, fostering a sense of community and sportsmanship among students.

4. Reporting and Communication:

•  Provide regular and comprehensive reports on student performance, game results, and any pertinent issues to the sport coordinator.
• Maintain open and transparent communication with players, parents, and school staff regarding the progress and achievements of the Futsal teams.

5. Exemplary Behavior Modeling:

• Demonstrate exemplary behavior that reflects the values and ethos of the Islamic College of Brisbane, serving as a positive role model for students both on and off the field.

6. Safety Compliance:

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and adhere strictly to all applicable Student Safety Policies and Procedures to ensure the well-being of students during training sessions and matches.

7. Positive Relationship Building:

• Foster positive and supportive relationships with each student in the Futsal program, creating an inclusive and encouraging environment.
• Establish effective communication channels with parents, keeping them informed and involved in their child's Futsal experience.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Futsal Coach will contribute to the overall success and positive experience of students participating in the Futsal program at the Islamic College of Brisbane.

Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant Coaching Qualification - Desirable: Possession of a relevant coaching qualification in Futsal.
2. Minimum Qualification Requirement - Coaches must complete the Australian Institute of Sport's online course "Community Coaching Essential Skills" as a minimum qualification, which is available free of charge.
3. Coaching Experience - Solid coaching experience, preferably in a school or junior sports program, demonstrating a strong understanding of Futsal coaching principles.
4. Teaching Style - Utilize a coaching style that fosters student inquiry and active engagement in the learning process, promoting both skill development and a love for the sport.
5. Student Care and Professionalism - Demonstrate a proven ability to care for students in a sensitive and professional manner, ensuring their well-being and positive experience in the Futsal program.
6. Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Possess well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering positive relationships within the school community.
7. Blue Card Requirement - Working with Children.
8. First Aid and CPR Certification
