Gardener (Private Property)

We have a great opportunity for a Gardener to commence on a full time basis at the Dreamthorpe Private Property in Mount Macedon that is a local historical, architectural and with an aesthetic significance to the Shire of Macedon Ranges. You will be surrounded by 10 acres of idyllic Australian bushland with unobstructed views out to the Macedon Ranges, Spring Hill Estate will fill you with a powerful sense of purpose and place. From the moment you pull into the driveway, 65 minutes from Melbourne, you’ll be cultivated by its beauty and surround by extensive exotic trees throughout the garden and around the perimeter of the yard. Plantings also include very large Cupressus lawsoniana, and a E.viminalis specimen. Other mature tree specimens include Cedrus deodara, poplars, oaks, Cupressus macrocarpa, and pin oak.
About The Role

• You will deliver exceptional presentation of the garden and maintaining aesthetics of overall property
• Hands on role with a solid understanding of managing a large garden property.
• General gardening tasks including but not limited to planting, watering, pruning, deadheading, weeding and fertilizing
• Designing, installing and maintaining annual plantings in beds and planters
• Completing basic maintenance work
• Designing, installing and maintaining annual plantings in beds and planters
• Blowing of pathways and removal of debris
• Pruning and shaping shrubs, topiaries and climbing plants
• Removing invasive from trees, shrubs and beds
• Overseeing mid- and end-of-season service provided by outside landscape

About You:

• Have a positive and a can do attitude with an interest in fine gardening and garden design
• Experience of basic maintenance work
• 1 to 3 years of horticultural experience
• Knowledge of horticultural practices and ability to identify plants
• Knowledge of hand pruning
• Take a logical approach to problem solving and address issues
• Ability to communicate effectively

Established in 1880's, a Victorian house modified in the Edwardian period, Dreamthrope is a local historical and architectural beauty.
