Introduction to Trades and Services - Vocational Support Officers

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Gardens and Grounds Instructor is responsible for the upkeep and ongoing maintenance of the prison grounds, gardens area, vegetable and dairy production and maintenance of equipment used. The position is also responsible for facilitating the practical components of prisoner training programmes based in the area of horticulture.

Pool Recruitment 

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.

ELIGIBILITY

  • A Certificate III in Horticulture (specialising in parks and gardens, landscaping, conservation and land management, natural area restoration eg ovals and turf)
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Valid manual "C" class motor vehicle driving licence
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) accreditation (or equivalent) with a minimum of 12 months validity remaining
