Your opportunity
Reporting into the Global Sales Finance Legal Lead in Japan with a dotted line into our local Managing Director, you’ll be responsible for providing and supporting Nissan Financial Services across Australia and New Zealand on all legal matters.
You will provide proactive, reliable and strategic commercial advice along with practical solutions to Global counterparts, the leadership team and key stakeholders always balancing risk with reward, while maintaining compliance with all applicable legislation.
This a full and broad legal counsel role including but clearly not limited to:
- Supporting the business across operations, dealership retail arrangements, commercial finance facilities, fleet funding and asset backed securitisation transactions.
- Advising on the legal considerations on design and delivery of new finance products;
- Minimising and managing litigation matters; instructing and managing external legal providers as required; and advise and resolve disputes relating to a wide-spectrum of complex issues;
- General contract negotiation, drafting agreements and contract management.
- Ensure support and project management for all regulatory changes, ensuring changes are embedded across the entire Australian and New Zealand business.
You will bring
- Ten or more years' experience in an in-house legal role - Banking and Finance industry focused and/or at a law firm;
- Significant post qualification experience in the Financial Services sector with strong knowledge of key legal and regulatory obligations under NCCP, AML/CTF, PPSR, Privacy and data protection laws;
- Strong stakeholder management and partnering skills; ability to engage and build relationships across all levels and communicate legal issues clearly and succinctly, adapting dependent upon the audience and stakeholder group;
- Ability to work autonomously and independently to manage an established team;
- Proven ability to interpret legal, regulatory policy and propose pragmatic solutions;
- Tertiary qualified with a Bachelor of Laws
