Franmarine is a successful and rapidly growing WA owned and operated small/medium enterprise (SME) that specialises in delivery of underwater services to Defence, Infrastructure and Resource industries.
Franmarine is excited to announce the new position of General Manager - Defence, starting in September 2024. Working from the new Global Operations Centre, you will be responsible for identifying and following global defence opportunities to transform Franmarine from domestic to esteemed global entity. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be accountable for the output, culture and growth of all Defence aspects within Franmarine and personally responsible for the maintenance and development of Defence Contracts.
Core responsibilities:
Client Relations: Responsible to CEO for development and maintenance of Royal Australian Navy contracts
International growth: Identify and follow global defence opportunities to transform Franmarine from domestic to esteemed global entity
Strategic development: Work collaboratively with the CEO to develop strategic priorities and translate into definitive actions
Operational output: Plan, organise, direct, control and review day-to-day Operations and major functions of Franmarine Defence
Champion positive culture: Project lead for implementing and developing culture and values
Public facing role: Represent the organisation at official occasions, in negotiations, conventions, and liaising between areas of responsibility
Management of risk: Deep understanding of risk applied to business strategy within the maritime and diving contexts
Oversight of diving safety systems: Liaise with the CEO and HSEQ Manager forthe delivery of safe diving practices within Defence facing activities
Key experience:
- At least 15 years senior leadership and management experience within the Military or the Defence Industry (Military experience preferred)
- Proven ability to undertake strategic planning and management
- Proven track record of developing positive working cultures within a team environment
- Proven ability to effectively communicate at all levels, capable of representing Franmarine at military forums and events both domestically and internationally
- Developed professional network within RAN and foreign Navies
- At least 10 years’ experience as a diver and diving supervisor, with recent experience operating on RAN platforms
- Deep understanding of risk management and safe systems of work within a complex diving environment, experience of working within a Safety role essential
