The role:

  • Manage strategic planning for asset management, urban planning, environmental initiatives, and major projects to expected service levels.
  • Lead by example, working to budget and timelines.
  • Provide sustainable solutions to waste and Planning services.
  • Develop land use plans for residential and commercial growth.
  • Implement and maintain long term asset management plans, to lifecycle.
  • Revise and implement strategy plans, policy and procedures as needed.
  • Follow and adhere to all legal, compliance and policy requirements.
  • Lead and manage operational needs with performance metrics
  • Deliver capital work programs and major projects successfully.
  • Leadership to an established and thriving department including people management, succession planning and engagement.
  • As an executive team member, you will collaborate daily with all areas of the organisation, the public and external government departments proactively and positively.
  • Foster impactful partnerships, for longevity and engagement.
  • Represent your organisation in various forums, including public speaking.
  • Advocacy and provide expert advice on key decisions, as needed

Technical skills & Experience needed:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Planning, or Management with experience in engineering, operations, project management, or land use planning.
  • Qualifications enabling membership to professional organisations like Engineers Australia or Planning Institute of Australia, essential.
  • Profound knowledge of technical services, particularly regarding ongoing legislative, regulatory, and budgetary obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience in an engineering or planning environment, including operations. Some exposure to local and/or state government operations highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders both internally and externally including the ability to influence and engage your intended audience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing or contributing to long-term corporate strategies, policies, and annual reports.
  • Proven leadership abilities to inspire and motivate an experienced team.
  • Experienced in dealing with complex problems and the ability to seek guidance when needed from relevant parties.
  • Advanced skills in research and investigation, for the development of policies, strategy and the drive to be solution focussed on problems.
  • Exceptional management skills, to be able to plan, delegate and take action as needed.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across different platforms and at different levels - internally and externally.
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and necessary employment checks, as the appointment is contingent upon successful completion of this check.
