The Role
This role will be both responsible and accountable for the overall strategy, process improvement, purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality, risk and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. Lead the function including people, budget, strategy, policy and procedures.
Sourcing Strategy and Development
- Lead, create and implement best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Ensure that purchasing policies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets
- Negotiate and manage contract terms with suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards and delivery terms
- Integrate ESG principles into procurement practices, considering sustainability, ethical sourcing, and social responsibility
- Implementing and enforcing ethical and sustainable practices, including a focus on modern slavery management within the supply chain, to ensure the highest standards of social responsibility
People Management
- Manage, coach and develop the Procurement team to meet the function’s core objectives and deliver best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the procurement department Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external executive and operational stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with cross department stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the procurement strategy · Communicate proactively with key stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on supply
Financial Management
- Monitor market trends and economic indicators to make informed decisions that impact the procurement strategy and future operational budgets of Discovery Parks
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the procurement strategy
Your Experience
To be successful in this role you will possess prior experience in a senior procurement role within a corporate environment, preferably with multi-category procurement exposure. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Management, Law, Commerce, Accounting, or associated disciplines
- Minimum 5 years in Strategic Procurement Management roles within a large business
- Experience managing a team of procurement professionals
- Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development
- Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
- Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
- Commercially and financially aware with experience of managing budgets
- Experience in the accommodation/hospitality industry (desirable)
