Australia's largest public museum organisation is seeking a General Manager, Venues & Events to strategically manage the trade and business use of Museums Victoria venues to deliver and grow commercial returns and to manage key commercial partnerships effectively

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The primary accountability of this position is to lead the dynamic internal sales and operations teams to grow and optimise revenue through consumer, trade and business venue hire via the delivery of market-leading visitor experiences at Museums Victoria's portfolio of venues, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. This position is also accountable for the delivery of key internal stakeholder events, the negotiation and management of major contracts, and compliance with operating procedures.
NOTABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Significant senior-level management experience in the successful operation of a commercial business or venue operation, with a demonstrated record of growth attributable to the vision and strategic direction set by the applicant.
- Extensive event sales and event operations knowledge and experience with large-scale complex venues with commercial imperatives.
- Demonstrated high-level conceptual and analytical decision-making skills, including significant experience in negotiating and managing high-value, integral and complex contracts with key partners, stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, access multiple competing options, formulate and develop business plans and budgets, manage resources, and deliver appropriate outcomes.
- Highly developed communication skills with demonstrated success in engaging key stakeholder groups to promote and advocate Venues and/or a brand.
- Proven leadership and people management experience, extensive teamwork and teambuilding skills at a senior level, and the ability to collaboratively resolve problems to achieve desired outcomes and deliver customer-focused services.
OTHER INFORMATION
This is a Full-time, Ongoing position. The salary on offer is $130,673 base of grade (pro rata) + 11% superannuation.
