St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and our staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for a General Manager to oversee the volunteer experience and manage the Event Health Services while ensuring our commitment to delivering St John Quality Care.
The Opportunity
The Volunteer and Event Health Services team are an integral part of our organisation. Our volunteers are valued and provide quality care and a reassuring presence at sporting & cultural events, concerts, festivals and other major events across Victoria. The General Manager will lead the teams' strategic development, commercial objectives and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Regular team meetings ensuring issues are identified, opportunities for improvement are raised and recommendations made with input from the team including collaboration from other areas
- Develop a team culture that is based on trust, with openness to encourage participation ideas and continuous improvements
- Lead by example, display and exemplify behaviours that encourage quality outcomes
- Act as a coach to the team by providing guidance and support
- Meet growth targets, ensure the volunteer experience is enjoyable and lead SJAV volunteering to be the industry leader
- Develop and maximise commercial opportunities including events, functions and other activations
- Analyse and identify improvement areas including stakeholders to deliver improvements and initiatives
- Be aware of business drivers and market intelligence to ensure competitiveness
- Ensure the Volunteer and Event Services team are delivering quality products and services
- Oversee financial and budgetary performance and costs to maximise revenue and achieve budget targets
Your experience
- You will hold a tertiary qualification in a business or related discipline or significant business related experience
- You will be able to identify and engage key stakeholders and form strong business relationships
- You will have experience in identify the key drivers in risk and reward relationships
- Familiarity with the industry and St John Ambulance's (Vic) position within the industry will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to achieve better business outcomes through developing initiatives and improvements leading to cost reduction and improved outcomes
- Openness to new ideas and innovations with the ability to turn them into real business solutions
- People leadership, leading with openness, encouragement, collaboration and flexibility
- Well-developed relationship building and networking skills while being a strong team player
- Well-developed facilitation skills with the ability to present to all levels of management
- The ability to inspire trust, lead and build a specialist team operating at high performance levels
