Joining the friendly team of healthcare professionals at Southern Fleurieu Health Service, you will review and admit patients referred via General Practitioners, local community services, outpatients' and the Emergency Department. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Medical Ward, ensuring the review of patients as early as practical to confirm or establish a diagnosis and define clinical criteria for discharge and expected time of discharge. As required, you will assist with the management of patients requiring a range of General Medical assistance across all areas of the hospital. You will provide leadership and guidance to junior medical staff and nursing and allied health staff, as well as participating in quality improvement, administration, teaching and research and site accreditation activities.

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking competent General Medicine Physicians and or Geriatricians with acute General Medicine experience to join our dynamic team. Multiple positions are available.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare family, you will lead and mentor, while collaborating with General Practitioners and local community services, inpatient teams and our Emergency Department. Your expertise will be utilised in caring for outpatients, and in inpatients, supported by junior medical and allied health staff, ensuring efficiency and excellence of care.
You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or an equivalent qualification, and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration. This will be supported by your extensive clinical experience in acute internal medicine. An FRACP is essential to this appointment. Experience working with Aboriginal consumers and communities to provide culturally appropriate Health Services will be ideal. With the ability to undertake clinical work, quality control, teaching and research activities, you will be committed to working cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary setting. You will possess strong teamwork, mentoring and organisational skills in all aspects of the delivery of medical care to patients.
