YOUR NEW ROLE:
Welcome to Advanced Training in General Medicine at the Calvary Mater Newcastle, where you will be joining the team of general and subspecialist physicians in their commitment to providing expert patient care. While your role will focus on acute care medicine, there is opportunity to work with various subspecialists including Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Stroke, Infectious Diseases and Geriatric Medicine.
Subspecialty rotations can be arranged in Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care. The Department is also committed to various rural outreach programs in Moree, Tamworth and Mungindi.
There are abundant education sessions available as well as opportunities for professional development including:

• Weekly Consultant education sessions, hospital grand rounds, journal club, ECG and radiology tutorials
• Monthly patient clinical care reviews
• Online state-wide monthly education program via HETI
• Opportunity to attend General Medicine Education programs and conferences such as the Australia & New Zealand General Medicine Update (ANZGMU) in Sydney and IMSANZ.
• Collaboration with the University of Newcastle

The General Medicine Advanced Training position is accredited for Core Training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
