  • Salary Classification: Nurse Unit Manager Grade 4 - Yr 1-2
  • Remuneration: $143,125.82 - $145,640.82 per annum + superannuation + leave loading + RDO

THE ROLE: 

Operations Managers are responsible for leadership and management of their assigned focus area. You will provide operational direction, ensuring that service delivery is in line with Calvary’s strategic direction. The role will focus on collaboration with multiple stakeholders, financial administration, reporting, human resource and risk management.

FOCUS AREA:

The Operations Manager - General Medicine and Palliative Care Services is responsible for the oversight of Calvary Mater Newcastle's General Medicine and Palliative Care services. 

Calvary Mater Newcastle is a public hospital. We offer a high standard of patient care to the communities of Newcastle and the Hunter region, as well as a comprehensive range of health services.  The Department of General Medicine provides inpatient consultation across a range of subspecialties, ambulatory care and outreach clinics. In addition, the Department of Palliative Care offers a comprehensive specialist service, providing integrated multidisciplinary Palliative Care across inpatient and community health care settings.

Your main duties will include:

  • Act as the champion of change by driving the implementation and evaluation of contemporary, evidence-based models of care.
  • Support the outreach and support services within the General Medicine and Palliative Care Services’ team to ensure access of services delivery & patient centeredness.
  • Provide nursing leadership and expert advice in the planning, coordination, operation and evaluation of the delivery of general Medicine and Palliative Care Services, including the development of strategic/business plans and participation in service review, development and projects as required.

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience managing operational budget in a climate of finite resources.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant postgraduate qualification.  
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to quality improvement with an understanding of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS).
  • Demonstrated broad clinical and operational management experience within a complex health care environment. This includes experience in the development and implementation of business and operational plans.
