Advertising Closes: 16 July 2024MNCLHD is seeking to fill two Surgical Fellow positions for the 2025 clinical year. One position is available at Coffs Harbour Health Campus and the other at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.What you'll be doingThe Surgical Fellow in General Surgery will report to the Clinical Director of Surgery. This role involves leading the Acute Surgical Unit to provide high-quality clinical care to patients and performing all types of general emergency surgery within either the Coffs Clinical Network or the Hastings Macleay Clinical Network.Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Acute Surgical Unit to deliver comprehensive clinical care.
• Perform a wide range of general emergency surgeries.
• Manage and run outpatient clinics.
• Participate in the consultant on-call roster.
• Assist in the education and administrative roles within the department.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious DiseasesIf you are applying for a Category A position, under the NSW Health Policy Directive , evidence of current immunity status that complies with the policy must be supplied.Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available atSelection Criteria * MBBS or equivalent, Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and unconditional registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.

• Demonstrated significant experience relevant to General Surgery and evidence of competence in skills relevant to a regional centre hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
• Excellent communication and liaison skills, fostering positive and productive working relationships between team members and with other disciplines.
• Willing to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster for General Surgery.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to General Surgery including teaching of medical students, JMOs, Nursing Staff, and other staff as required and an ongoing commitment to surgical research.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement, accreditation requirements and peer review.
• GESA accreditation required
