The role:
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced senior registered nurse to lead a strongly knit and dedicated team of nurses in our busy General Surgical Ward (patients across Neurosurgical, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology). The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM), Wards is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective operating services that achieve optimal patient outcomes. They ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care in accordance with legislative requirements and professional guidelines. The NUM manages the resources and staff of the specialties within their discipline mix. They will provide management, mentorship and support in the achievement of excellence in nursing practice. The NUM will promote a culture that embraces best practice and identifies, evaluates and incorporates appropriate emerging trends in the practice of the clinical disciplines within their unit.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, we are currently seeking a mature minded, experienced and motivated Nurse Unit Manager for a Full time role in Ward 2 which cares for patients across General Surgical - colorectal, urology, bariatric and plastics.
About you:
You will hold a strong ability in delivering high-quality nursing care in accordance with legislative requirements and professional guidelines. You will have demonstrated experience within this work area and in in managing a discipline mixed teams and providing management, mentorship, and support in the achievement of excellence in nursing practice.
Key Accountabilities of the role include (not limited to):
- Provide leadership to all staff in the nursing team to support their professional growth, development and integration into the multi-disciplinary care team
- Provide effective, efficient coordination of services for patients throughout the hospital across the continuum of care
- Collaborating with other health professionals within MQ Health in developing, monitoring and reporting key clinical indicators
- Promote quality activities and coordinate quality improvement initiatives to maintain a culture of continuous improvement
- Manage, assess and develop staff e.g. development, implementation and review of Induction and education programs, Performance Reviews to meet individual needs and achieve organisational goals
