Seeking a competent individual to join our friendly hard-working team of Health Professionals. Using your experience and knowledge you will provide state-wide high-level advice as a Genomic Epidemiologist for biological and medical testing of viral and bacterial pathogens, specializing in public health based Genomic Epidemiology. Using excellent communication skills you will lead and manage a small team of bioinformaticians, Genomic Epidemiologists and a senior genomics scientist responsible for analysis and reporting of microbial genomics and actively work towards integration of the team with the laboratories they service.

Contribute to ensuring the effective, efficient development and provision of analytical services and genomic based consultation to a diverse state-wide mix of stakeholders/customers, including Queensland Health and other government agencies, community-service-obligation clients, and fee-for-service commercial clients.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• High level of knowledge in the application of genomics and the subsequent interpretation and integration with epidemiology in public health surveillance and outbreak investigations for notifiable and emerging pathogens.
• Experience across epidemiological data collection, management, statistical analysis, interpreting bioinformatics analysis and compiling genomics reports.
• Ability to lead a small team and drive functional integration between multidisciplinary teams collaboratively.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with, train and mentor researchers, students and laboratory scientists of all levels and be able to work closely with members of genomics, bioinformatics and epidemiology teams as part of the PEH public health activities.
• Ability to provide authoritative advice and counsel in matters relating to public health genomics to stakeholders at a local, state and national level.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in providing expert evidence and advice, complex report writing, documentation development, liaison and consultation skills with a wide range of clients and specialists, including the dissemination of scientific knowledge through publications and presentations.
• Ability to lead and manage the staff in data associated services that are compliant with NATA/NPAAC/ISO/IEC17025/15189 quality accreditation, standard methods and relevant regulatory guidelines and professional standards.
