Our client is seeking an experienced Geographical Information System Officer to assist in the acquisition, organisation, and presentation of Geographical Information, and to provide Geographical Information System (GIS) related services, advice, and support to the council and external customers.
Local Government - Geographical Information System Officer - Gympie
- $47.92 hour + super
- Monday to Friday, 08:00am - 16:00pm
- Full-time hourly basis
- Immediate Start till the 26th of January 2024 with possible extension.

To be successful in this role, please find the following requirements:
- The creation and maintenance of the GIS data to agreed standards.
- Assist in the configuration and maintenance of the GIS system.
- Provide mapping products and other GIS services as required by internal and external customers.
- Provide GIS related support and training to council staff.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and documentation of the procedures, work instructions and metadata of the GIS section, the Capital Delivery and Assets and Council more broadly.
- Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence that is current and maintained.
- Tertiary qualifications in Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Science, or Computing, or studying towards that goal. Alternatively, at least three years demonstrated experience in GIS.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and skills in, the operation of current GIS software, in the creation, integration and analysis of a wide range of spatial data.
- Demonstrated experience in providing customer services and technical support to internal staff and the general public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to convey technical matters through effective written and verbal communication as well as directing others.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, yet successfully work as part of an integrated team to manage GIS projects to achieve successful outcomes.
- Experience with the use of IntraMaps, MapInfo, QGIS, FME, ArcGIS Online, and GDAL highly regarded.
- Experience automating GIS workflows using FME, VBScript, PowerShell, SQL or Python highly regarded.
