We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Golden Grove team. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and experienced team. Supporting the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will work closely with the site team to support the safe and efficient extraction of the deposits. This is a permanent position, offered on an 8/6 roster FIFO from either Perth or Geraldton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining geotechnical standards as described in the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP);
- Challenging and optimising mining methods for two deep mining operations and for new and existing open cut operations;
- Demonstrating their operational and technical capabilities as an integral part of the expanding technical services team;
- Developing and improving operational procedures and analytical methods; and
- Planning, managing, and assessing multiple backfill types including Cemented Hydraulic Fill and Cemented Rockfill.
- 2+yrs. experience in a mining environment since graduation, with at least one year in a mechanised underground mine;
- Recognised and relevant Tertiary Degree, i.e. Bachelor of Engineering/Science (Mining, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering;)
- Proficient with geotechnical / mining software (Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac, IMS suite, Rocscience suite, mXrap and MAP3D);
- Problem solving: being able to find solutions to issues, and enacting the solutions and improvements in a controlled change process to ensure safety and mitigate process losses;
- Dangerous Goods Security Clearance; and
- Seismic experience would be well regarded.
Candidates will be required to meet our pre-employment criteria which includes a medical, drug and alcohol screening, hold a valid manual driver’s licence and a valid National Police Clearance.
