The Mine

Located in the historic mining region of Western New South Wales, this underground mining principal owns and operates a large, complex remnant mine, employing long hole open stoping mining methods.

Relocate to Regional NSW or DIDO Options

• Working a standard 8-hour day

Alternatively, if you reside in surrounding suburbs, you will enjoy the option to DIDO to site every day, allowing you to return home each night.

The Role

Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will thrive in a role responsible for leading and coordinating the Geotechnical function across their underground mining operations. Your duties will include;-

• Directly managing two experienced Geotechnical Engineers
• Development and mentorship of the geotechnical engineers and managing the departments succession plan
• Active involvement in short, medium, and long-term plans and projects and ensure that all geotechnical risks are identified, considered, evaluated, and have adequate controls put in place
• Review current monitoring systems, making recommendations that will ensure adequate ground control as the depth of the mine increases, consulting with group geotechnical expertise as appropriate
• Oversee the collection and analysis of geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, analysis of rock fall events and ground control issues
• Perform numerical modelling using MAP3D and RS3 for underground mine design
• Analysis of micro seismic activity using mXrap and IMS systems
• Ensure that geotechnical feasibility contributions are of the highest quality by determining design parameters, modelling and advising on the most appropriate mine design and sequence

Your Value

• Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering / Rock Mechanics
• 5+ years previous experience of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer
• Current manual driver licence
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills
• Sound proficiency in the use of MS Suite, MAP3D, Vulcan and Rocscience Suite
