Job description

CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.

CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.

The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne's busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

We currently have a vacancy within our Digital Engineering team for an experienced GIS Manager. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate GIS Management activities across projects and tenders. Provide specialist GIS solutions to both precontract and delivery phase projects as well as developing technical capabilities and expertise of business unit / project staff.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Plan and control the delivery of GIS for delivery team
  • Responsible for the management and delivery of GIS solutions and project GIS data for all disciplines
  • Provide support to Design and Construction teams using GIS applications and tools
  • Configure, manage and maintain web and mobile mapping applications
  • Perform spatial data management and data analysis activities where required.

  • Provide strong GIS leadership for project teams and their clients
  • Provide training support through coaching and sharing of knowledge.
  • Ensure all appropriate knowledge and technical solutions are communicated to functional and line management.
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you demonstrate the following;
  • Tertiary Degree (Bachelor level) in Built Environment, Survey, Mapping, GIS, Science, Information Technology (IT)
  • 5+ Years in the Engineering Consulting or Construction industry, with at least a minimum 5 + years GIS experience on large multi discipline projects. Exposure to major multi-discipline engineering and construction delivery.
  • Preferably significant Design and Construction experience on projects greater than $200m.
  • Advanced understanding in Project and Construction Management. Eligible for Chartership and/or Professional Registration (e.g. SSSI).Local and/or International GIS Accreditation
