Are you an enthusiastic spatial professional who loves a challenge and wishes to have a significant impact on spatial systems and data accuracy, propelling Coliban into its next transformational phase?
This role is part of the Assets & Operations group and plays a pivotal contribution toward Coliban Water’s success and is focussed on ensuring we provide high quality customer services by efficiently and effectively operating water and wastewater systems, water resources and creating/managing infrastructure.
This role represents an exciting opportunity to assist Coliban Water upgrade all facets of our GIS system as we undertake significant system and software upgrades which will position us for innovation and success over the coming years.
The GIS team’s primary function is to ensure that the GIS system is functional and meets the needs of Coliban Water stakeholders. This role focusses on maintaining and improving system functionality through project delivery using the Esri Suite, SQL, and Geocortex. An understanding of Python is desirable but not essential.
A snapshot of your day
As our GIS Project Lead & System Administrator, you will:
- Use your outstanding project management skills to coordinate Coliban’s multiple spatial system upgrades
- Work within a dynamic and progressive team to maintain exceptional system reliability and use your spatial knowledge to enhance current processes and procedures (Maintaining and enhancing GIS system functionality)
- Actively manage and monitor system server performance. Use your Esri Suite experience to enhance and improve server performance and optimise user experience.
- Enhance integration between Coliban’s CRM and Public Sector Asset Management Information System and the GIS
- Communicate effectively with all key stakeholders on system integration and improvements.
To be considered for the role you’ll have:
- A tertiary degree in IT or GIS related course and 2 years post-graduate experience and/or have substantial working knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated high level of experience in maintaining digital spatial data, in a flexible yet technical production environment
- An ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and well-developed project management experience.

Salary
The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021. Band 4 ($91,714 - $115,891) salary range will be offered to the successful candidate, commensurate with their skills and experience.
