About the company
This leading private equity backed local manufacturer and distributor of industrial capital equipment provide innovative products and solutions to the environmental services, manufacturing, and retail markets, with a newly appointed CEO and a renewed appetite for growth, they now wish to appoint a new General Manager of Sales & Marketing to help set a robust and strategic go to market strategy that will help double the business in the next five years. This business fosters a culture of care and collaboration, they are a household name in the markets they play in and are primed for winning further market share through strategic acquisitions and organic growth opportunities.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the highly supportive and humanistic CEO, this business-critical senior leadership role holds a position on the Executive Leadership Team, you will play and influential role in reshaping the front end of the business, this is a transformational role that will see the successful candidate make significant improvements around the go to market strategy with regards to systems, processes and most importantly people. The role has nine direct reports on the national sales team and another four across marketing with full responsibility for the marketing activities of the brand and organisation.
Key duties & responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with sales tools to capture current and accurate information about all opportunities & activity
  • Review organisation structure of the sales function; develop position descriptions, targets and KPI’s for each team member and actively manage performance against these
  • Build and develop a high performing sales team with a laser focus on developing the products and the service side of the business
  • Analyse the current customer market within the business, cleanse and review the data to get a deeper understanding of business performance, market opportunity and competitors.
  • Build a strategic and robust GTM plan for growth based around product, price point and market position for both the product & service revenue streams.
  • Improve CRM utilisation across the sales team structure to assist with making better and informed customer decisions to drive pipeline conversion
  • Drive cultural change of accountability and performance – implement a rhythm and cadence through the sales organisation with a focus on territory and account review planning with a solution sales focus
  • Document and implement key account management process to align with the overall business structure
  • Drive a consistent and disciplined tender response process to improve conversion rate
  • Own the integrated marketing plan across digital and non-digital channels, including web site optimisation (SEO and SE
Skills & experienced required
  • Degree in business or a related field
  • Be an intelligent and commercially astute executive sales leader who can flip between strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Ideally have a strong pedigree coming from an industrial B2B business environment – having both corporate and SME experience is desirable
  • Have experience of Sales process transformation and people capability uplift
  • Be a highly engaging and supportive people leader who can drive and influence positive change
  • Have a humanistic and coaching leadership style
  • A rounded business leader who can simplify complexity, understands data, can get into the detail and make informed business decision
