About the role
This position is a team based, dynamic and rewarding role. You will be in our women’s and children’s team and applicants with experience and interest in working in this area are encouraged to apply.
The Social Work team and department, provide daily peer support within a multi-disciplinary setting. Our staff rotate across campuses as service demands require.
The role includes:
- Providing psychosocial assessment involving the patient, family and engaged agencies.
- Working alongside treating team, providing consultation.
- Providing clinical intervention ensuring the needs of the client and family are attended to.
- Referring patients to appropriate Barwon Health departments or external agencies.
- Participating in wider service meetings, education opportunities and working groups.
- Management of complex risk situations.
- Being part of a dynamic and supportive social work and multidisciplinary team.

About the facility
Barwon Health is the major public health care provider in the Barwon South west region with a 406 bed public hospital (University Hospital Geelong), 100 bed subacute facility (McKellar Centre), 2 community rehabilitation centres, 21 community health sites, four aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education.
Barwon Health has an extensive building projects occurring with a women’s and children hospital development in acute and subacute programs, new mental health facilities for inpatients and outpatients, new urgent care facilities in community locations.
