What You Will Be Doing
We are excited to be in a position to advertise an employment opportunity for a Grade 2 Speech Pathologist to join our Acute Rehabilitation Program in a permanent part time capacity working equivalent of 2 days per week.
The Acute Rehabilitation Program (ARP) is a multidisciplinary service that provides early rehabilitation in an acute setting.
The Grade 2 Speech Pathologist in the Acute Rehabilitation Program works with the multidisciplinary team to assist patients in regaining their function and independence and facilitate an early supported discharge home where appropriate.
The Grade 2 Speech Pathologist supports patient-centred goal setting and provides high quality assessment, management and discharge planning to assist the patient in meeting their rehabilitation goals.
They provide evidence based Speech Pathology assessment, management with a rehabilitation focus, within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
There may be opportunity to consider combining roles, should future opportunities become available within the Speech Pathology service for suitable candidates.
We are open to discussing and negotiating rostered days (Weekdays) and hours of work should shorter days be preferred.
What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
• Current eligibility for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
• Demonstrated excellence in provision of Speech Pathology assessment, treatment and patient management for adult patients, using patient centred principles
• Ability to independently perform high quality Speech Pathology services in the inpatient and/or community setting. Including managing a neurological caseload
• Demonstrated experience in the clinical supervision of Speech Pathologists and undergraduate students with an ability to promote professional competence and foster individual development.
• Demonstrated commitment to Professional Development and evidence based practice.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability and experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
• Actively supports change by adjusting work practices and communication these effectively.
Desirable Criteria:
• Competency in Videoflouroscopy
• Competency in Tracheostomy (or willingness to gain and maintain competency with appropriate education and support)
