The Role:
The Grade 3 Scientist is primarily responsible for oversight of testing services provided by the Molecular department at Northern Health. The Grade 3 will also contribute to the evaluation of new testing protocols with subsequent implementation and will work closely with the Grade 4 Senior Scientist and Head of Department.
This position is responsible for:
- Evaluation and establishment of new assays in the department.
- Inventory management of molecular consumables.
- Training and on-going education of molecular staff.
- Equipment maintenance, servicing and trouble shooting.
- QC/QAP
To be Successful in the role You will have :
- A Bachelor’s degree in science or applied science from a tertiary institution recognized by the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists.
- Current National Police and Working with Children History Check.
- The Staff immunisation Questionnaire must be completed by all new employees as part of the mandatory on-boarding process. New employees are not permitted to undertake any activity that requires patient contact prior to clearance by the Staff Immunisation Nurses; this includes evidence of having the Flu vaccination on a yearly basis.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant medical laboratory experience, preferably in a Diagnostic setting.
- Extensive understanding of Quality system requirements for NATA accreditation.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Experience in infectious serology and bacteriology would be advantageous.
