An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced scientist to join our Molecular Diagnostics Department within our Pathology service. This fixed term 12-month maternity replacement position presents an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a rapidly expanding field.
About the role
The Grade 1 Scientist will perform routine laboratory investigations, be responsible for the verification and reporting of molecular testing results, assist in the development and validation of new molecular assays under the direction of the senior scientist(s) and undertake other laboratory duties.
A regular day will see you:
- Perform, read and interpret laboratory procedures, tests and assays
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment as per laboratory procedures
- Monitor and interpret QC results and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Participate in the training and education of scientific and technical staff in laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Participate in a 7 day a week rotating roster and willing to work evening and on-call shifts if required.

About you
To be considered for this role you will need to possess a Bachelor of Science or equivalent in the relevant area of Genetics or Molecular Biology. Previous experience working in a molecular diagnostics laboratory is highly desirable for this position.
