The Grader Operator is responsible for operating a grader for the purpose of the maintenance and construction of roads and drainage assets, or other associated civil infrastructure of Singleton Local Government Area’s Roads.Key responsibilities include:
- Undertake tasks associated with maintenance and construction of roads, drainage and other civil infrastructure including earthworks, concrete, pipe laying, bitumen, vegetation work and labouring.
- Interpret engineering design plans and provide set out and level control of works on allocated projects.
- Select, modify and regularly inspect traffic control plans (TCPs) to ensure that they meet set specifications and ensure safe management of traffic through and past the worksite,
- Set up works (with the support of the supervisor) to ensure expectations, including work health and safety, quality, environment and project objectives are clearly communicated and understood.
- Provide direction and support to team members when the supervisor is absent.
- Solid working knowledge of and experience in civil road construction and maintenance techniques and the operation of road construction plant.
- Competency operating a Grader as well as plant and vehicles used in the civil road construction and maintenance including but not limited to: Excavator, Skid Steer, Backhoe, Loader.
- Accreditation in traffic control including traffic controller, implement traffic control plans and Prepare Work Zone Management Plan or willingness to obtain.
- A minimum of a current HR licence, along with a willingness to obtain a HC licence as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol.
- Certificate III Civil Construction (Road Construction & Maintenance) or willing to complete within first 12 months of employment as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol.
- Working knowledge of local government civil works operations.
- Previous experience working as a Grader Operator or an experienced Plant Operator looking to take a step up into a grader role.
