Most of our clients are small to medium family businesses and self-managed super funds (SMSF). Our clients are well established and are long term clients, from a variety of industries such as medical, construction, professionals, real estate agents, retail and IT. We often deal directly with the owners as they see us as an essential resource and guide to help them understand what their financial and tax obligations are, so that we can help them to grow their business.
We have an exciting opportunity initially working with our Administration and Accounting teams to learn the basics of working in an accountancy practice focusing on Business Services and Tax.
To start, you will be involved in providing administrative support services and assistance to our team and Directors to deliver a range of compliance and business services to clients.

What are you required to do?
Typical duties will include:
- Managing the process of deadlines and lodgement e.g., Tax, BAS, Payroll tax, ATO, Revenue NSW, Workers Compensation as well as Debtor Management
- Prepare general correspondence to clients
- Making phone calls and sending emails to the ATO, plus other organisations, to resolve issues for our clients
- Assisting with general office duties and administrative tasks
- Assistance and preparation of BAS, financial statements and tax returns
- Assistance with processing and summarising information for the accounting team
- Managing and scheduling your workflow to meet monthly budgets and lodgement deadlines
- Taking active steps to self-learn to improve your technical skills, accuracy of work, communication skills and note taking
- Developing a working knowledge and use of Access Handisoft accounting software (Handiledger, Handitax, Practice Manager), Class Super, MYOB, Xero and QuickBooks as well as accessing and using the ATO portal
What are we looking for?
As your client contact and general administration skills will be used daily, the following skills and attributes are a must:
- Accounting Degree or studying towards an accounting qualification gained in Australia
- Strong, professional work ethic
- Ability to undertake research on a range of tax and accounting matters
- Proficient computer skills. Exposure to cloud accounting software, ATO Portal, Excel, accounting systems and software such as Xero and Handisoft will be highly regarded
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and able to engage in a friendly and efficient way with clients
- Well organised and proactive in anticipating client needs with experience in working in a fast paced environment
- Great team player who can proactively manage workflow to meet monthly budgets and deadlines
- Excellent planning and time management skills with an ability to manage competing priorities
- Reliable, accurate and takes pride in attention to detail in all matters
- Committed to meet deadlines
- A desire to self-learn and support the growth of the firm by identifying areas of improvement and be instrumental in the implementation of new initiatives
