SGS is seeking a dedicated Graduate Chemist to join our Natural Recourses – Geochem team primarily based in Perth.
This role offers the opportunity to participate in a 2 year structured training program (Perth based, regional and FIFO locations) within the Natural Resources - Geochemistry division. The program includes a complete rotation across the Geochemistry division including sample prep, fire assay, weigh room, acid digest, XRF analysis and ICP analysis and a placement at a mine site.
Responsibilities include, however are not limited to:
- Perform analyses in accordance with established procedures to ensure analytical integrity and quality.
- Actively participate in a structured program to develop relevant skills and knowledge.
- Operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation safely according to authorized work instructions.
- Comply with, and assist in maintaining, the laboratory’s Quality Management System.
- On occasions, may be required to relocate or provide temporary cover to other sites.
- Work to improve operating efficiency of equipment and instrumentation and analytical quality data.
- Ensure samples submitted to section are analyzed promptly, accurately, and precisely.
- Develop skills to achieve unsupervised operator status (working automatously) on equipment including troubleshooting skills and keeping equipment and section in good state of repair.
- Perform all functions in correct numerical order, adhering to QC requirements and avoiding potential contamination.
