It’s an exciting time to be part of the Defence Industry and Australian Maritime Technologies (AMT) has a key role to play in current and future naval acquisition Programs and in capability upgrades to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Fleet.

About us:

As a highly respected company with 35 years of engineering excellence in Australian and regional Defence projects, AMT is 100% Australian owned and we have been growing our highly skilled naval design team to meet increasing demand across all of our naval architecture, mechanical, electrical and Combat Systems / C4I engineering departments.

Our staff are consistent in their feedback of our great team environment, our flexible work arrangements, the diverse range of Naval projects they work on and the professional growth opportunities that our independent and agile business delivers.

Hybrid working location and Rostered Days Off:

Enjoy all that employment with AMT has to offer, including the ability to work flexibly from our Melbourne CBD based engineering office and from home.  In addition, we offer a fortnightly Rostered Day Off (RDO).

The role:

We are looking for enthusiastic engineers ideally with a maritime interest, at the start of their engineering career, to be guided and mentored by our experienced staff.

Engineers who will graduate at the end of 2024, or who have already graduated should apply.  Commencement dates can be immediate for recent Graduates or late 2024 or January 2025 for next year’s intake.

Work on a diverse range of exciting projects, in support of a wide range of Australian and regional maritime programs, both for new construction (such as the current RAN surface ship programs) and for sustaining and upgrading current ships of the RAN Fleet and for regional Navies.

More specifically you will:

  • Perform specialist design and engineering in the integration of combat management systems, communications, weapons and sensor systems on naval vessels;
  • Provide Combat Systems/C4I engineering support and guidance within whole of ship teams involving all AMT technical disciplines of naval architecture, electrical, mechanical and Combat Systems integration;
  • Undertake engineering projects from engineering investigations, through design concepts and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) interaction, all the way through preliminary and detail design to production implementation and customer acceptance; and
  • Represent AMT on a professional and technical basis with our Defence/Navy clients, with our customers within the defence Industry and with the broader OEM and system supplier community.

About you:

To be successful, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • A relevant Engineering degree (such as Computer Systems, Electronics or Communications);
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • Well-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills;
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail; and
  • The motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities in a multi-discipline engineering environment within a highly supportive team.

Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance. The selection process for this role will include pre-employment screening including a Police Records Check.

Why join us?

We offer an attractive, competitive salary package and employment conditions, including flexible working arrangements, working from home and a fortnightly Rostered Day Off (RDO).

We have an outward looking approach that will involve travel to our customers and to ships at waterfronts throughout Australia and abroad.

Be part of a thriving industry, with rewarding work opportunities and great challenges that will fuel your career development.

Join a company that focuses on your professional growth, tailored to you as an individual.

Applications:

 If you have what it takes to join us in our continuing and growing success, we would like to hear from you.

In your application, please include a CV and cover letter outlining your relevant skills, experience, Australian Citizenship and your motivation for joining us.

Applications close at 10am on Monday 24 June 2024
