About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a System Safety Engineer to join our program based in either Melbourne or Osborne, reporting to the HCF Combat System Safety Lead.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Make your contribution to the Hunter Class, Combat Systems safety program by engaging Combat Systems teams in product safety and environmental safety assessment activities.
Support the delivery of System Safety Engineering solutions following established methodologies and standards. This includes conducting peer reviews of safety-related documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Aid in crafting and upholding safety and environmental management plans for Hunter Combat Systems
- Develop compelling safety and environmental arguments for Hunter Combat Systems across various domains such as communications, navigation, above water warfare, underwater warfare, and information systems, often from foundational principles
- Document and assess safety hazards
- Assist in defining, overseeing, and fulfilling safety requirements for Hunter Combat Systems, leveraging tools like DOORs
- Manage compliance with legislative standards related to safety and environmental concerns within Hunter Combat Systems
About YOU
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of Safety Engineering processes and concepts and demonstrated experience within the Engineering discipline
- Knowledge of overall systems development lifecycle and ability to manage and prioritise own activities to meet project schedules
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively without supervision with demonstrated good problem solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Defence security NV1 clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
