The Opportunity
Looking for a sea change to start your engineering career? As a Graduate Engineer (with up to 2 years of experience) with a passion for the geotechnical engineering sector, you will work on projects varying from project housing to architecturally designed homes to new estate subdivisions. Our jobs include, but are not limited to, slab engineering, site inspections and reporting as well as in-the-field compliance testing before, during, and after development. Located in the renowned South West of Western Australia, start your engineering career with pristine beaches, internationally recognised wine regions, and much-loved natural bushland. Our Bunbury Office provides design and documentation for all manner of residential construction including specific geotechnical engineering for the industry. We provide our services to large project builders, as well as exclusive builders, architects, designers, owner builders, homeowners, earth workers, and developers.
Duties of this role will ultimately include:
- Interpret architectural drawings for design considerations;
- Liaise with clients in-person, via phone and email;
- Liaise with colleagues and other departments as requested;
- Visit building sites, conduct inspections and prepare technical reports;
- Work under the guidance of more experienced/senior engineers.
- Conducting site classification assessments and other site-based soil investigations.
- Job management and administration
- Operating soil testing equipment on site.
- Other duties as directed.
Who are we looking for?
This position requires an individual who has a strong client focus and a high level of drive & motivation to provide innovative & practical engineering designs that meet client requirements. In addition, the successful applicant will have:
- A completed Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering from an institution recognised by Engineers Australia;
- Previous exposure to engineering design in the building industry would be considered advantageous;
- A sound understanding of Engineering Principles, Australian Building Codes, and Australian Design Standards;
- A strong client focus;
- Be professional, honest and have a reasonable understanding of the residential construction process;
- Physical fitness to a level that will allow you to operate equipment safely and competently
- An ability to use technical engineering software;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Current driver’s license and acceptance/willingness to work outdoors.
