Tronox, a leading global mining and manufacturing company, is seeking bright and diverse Graduates to embark on our 3-year program, to join our dynamic team across our Australian sites.
We are recruiting for a Graduate Mining Engineer to join our Mineral Resources Development team! We are ideally chasing an applicant to work at our Eastern Operations (NSW) however, we are open to other locations pending your preference. We will pay for your relocation to Mildura, VIC.
We are eager to find the best Graduate for this role regardless of your location therefore, this role can be based at most of our Australian Locations. Rotations across departments or sites may be required to better build you experience and skill set throughout the program.

Who are Tronox, anyway?
It’s okay if you haven’t heard of us yet – we’ll change that. Tronox is a mineral sands miner and the only titanium dioxide pigment producer in Australia, and we’ve been doing it for 60 years! Lots of other miners take the raw product out of the ground but we are the only ones that add value by taking it all the way downstream. This means you get to play around with more complex and interesting processes.
We’re big enough to operate industry leading projects and sites, but small enough to know how to take care of our people.
What to expect from the role?
- The role will provide the opportunity to rotate between current active mine sites, former mine sites which are undergoing rehabilitation and work with the Mineral Resource Development Team which primarily focusses on future mining projects.
- The Mineral Resource Development teams are based Mildura, VIC and Chandala, WA and works on a wide range of projects from mines undergoing development, evaluating satellite pit opportunities to evaluating future standalone mining operations.
- Opportunities exist to work with the mining operational team at the Atlas and Campaspe mine sites located at Willandra East, NSW assisting with rehabilitation planning at the recently completed Ginkgo, Snapper and Crayfish mine sites located at Pooncarie, NSW, along with our Cooljarloo Mine site located in Cataby and Wonnerup located in Busselton, WA.
The Graduate Mining Engineerwill be accountable for:
- Actively contributing to the preparation of practical LOM plans and project development studies.
- Optimisation, financial analysis and planning of long-term mining projects.
- Assist with the preparation of budget physicals and costs for mining and rehabilitation.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly schedules in line with the budget and LOM plans.
- Monitor production activities within the mine to identify opportunities to improve designs and productivity.
- Design, schedule and execute plans for land reformation prior to rehabilitation.
- Develop plans and schedules for tailings management.
- Monitor, respond and report variances in production and/or risks and opportunities.
- Using mining software such as Vulcan, Surpac and Minesched. If you have this experience it will be highly regarded.

Am I eligible to apply?
- I have a Graduate Diploma, Bachelors, Honours or Masters in Engineering, majoring in mining or Geotechnical Engineering.
- I am on track to graduate by the end of 2024 or have already graduated in the last 2 years.
