About the facility
The CASEA (Schools Early Action) program is a program within CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) that outreaches to Primary Schools in the Barwon Region to detect, assess and intervene with children showing social, behavioural, emotional and/or Mental Health difficulties. The program delivers group programs, secondary consultation and community education within an early intervention framework.
CAMHS is a multi-disciplinary team working out of Central Geelong with children, young people and their families presenting with complex and/or high risk Mental Health presentations.
About the role
This position participates in the provision of Mental Health drug and alcohol care to young people in the Barwon Region. Specifically, this role will be an integral part of the Barwon Health CAMHS and CASEA team in the first year and will then transition to a care coordination role in CAMHS the second year.
In the first year, with the support of the CASEA team you will be delivering best practice, evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment to children within an early intervention framework. This position will be delivering group work to identify at risk children and their families, psychological interventions to primary school children as well as capacity and relationship building within primary school systems.
As part of the general CAMHS service in the second year, you will provide assessment, treatment and risk management to young people presenting with complex and moderate to severe Mental Health and drug and alcohol problems. The position will remain for the year with Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service and will be located with a Grade 2 OT on site and supported by a Grade 4 OT within the Education Team. The position includes participation in an inter-disciplinary education program overseen by the Mental Health Education team.
