Job description

Company Description

Are you ready to be a big part of something big?

At carsales, we're all about making buying and selling a great experience. For 25 years we've been evolving with the new economy to help people choose how they move today and tomorrow.

When it comes to your career, we want to provide big opportunities to help you make a big impact. But for this to be possible, we strive to feel small. Small enough to quickly change tack, small enough to learn from different departments and small enough to connect authentically with leadership.

Not something you'd expect from one of the country's biggest tech companies, is it?

And one of the best parts? We give you the autonomy to choose the working location that best suits your lifestyle - Office, Hybrid or Anywhere.

What's on offer:

  • A permanent role in a place where you can move your career forward, where you'll be continuously backed to make new ideas happen, and the chance to do work that makes real, significant impact in the world.
  • We're proud to be recognised as one of Australia's Best Workplaces by Great Place to Work, an AFR BOSS Best Place to Work, a Family Friendly Workplace, and WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.
  • The support of a highly engaged, high-performing team including a leadership team that you'll actually have face time with.
  • 22 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, four weeks paid secondary caregivers leave, six weeks paid gender affirming care leave.
  • Regular Hackathons, endless learning and development opportunities, and a range of activities that will help support your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

What you'll do:

  • Commencing in February 2025, you'll join our Technology team and start developing your digital career by growing your capabilities across multiple areas of specialty including, but not limited to Software Development, DevOps, Testing, Automation and much more.
  • You will have the chance to work on projects that really matter to our business, and we'll surround you with a support crew of motivated and creative people who are invested in providing you with big opportunities to help you make a big impact.
  • To set you up for success you'll begin by completing planned six-month rotations with different squads across the business. You'll get the opportunity to really understand the Software lifecycle and how our Technology teams create and deliver products that make buying and selling a great experience for our customers.
  • Upon completion of these rotations, you'll be placed into a permanent home with one of our teams.
  • There will be lots of laughs along the way too - whether it's participating in our Hackathons, our endless learning & development opportunities, our wellbeing initiatives, or simply sending amusing GIFs to one another via Slack!

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Inclusive and interpersonal attributes that connect with our behaviours (we change the game, we own it, we step in, we are curious, we don't take ourselves too seriously)
  • Final year students (to graduate by end of 2024) or recent graduates (no later than 2023) with IT, Computer Science, Software Development or similar degrees and a keen interest in Software Engineering, Front-End Development, Quality Assurance or Cloud & Security Engineering.
  • Motivation to grow your career in Technology to become a professional Software Developer.
  • A demonstrated interest in Software Development and putting this to practical application in your career.
  • A true passion for learning and growth - we want you to be excited about learning our tech stack, the languages that we code in and how to work in an agile environment with the latest technologies.

Additional Information

A few other things we want to let you know about...

  • Online applications close Monday 1 April 2024, however, we encourage applications as early as possible as we will commence shortlisting prior. Please submit a copy of your up-to-date academic results with your application to be considered for our program (you can use the Cover Letter section to upload your transcript). Our recruitment process will include testing, video interviewing and assessment centres over the coming months.
  • Graduates will commence employment in February 2025.
  • Our recruitment process includes one way video interviews, cognitive ability assessments, face to face (via zoom) interviews and group ability assessment centre days.
  • carsales is an equal opportunity employer and we pride ourselves on fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We encourage everyone of all ages, genders, and backgrounds to apply. If you're a candidate with a disability or you need some adjustments to be at your best, let us know how we can provide you with additional support.
  • We know how important keeping that balance between work/life is and have a range of flexible working options on offer, including part time work. We are open to this conversation during our recruitment process - if you want to know more just ask.
  • We are a proud Circle Back Initiative Employer which means we are committed to responding to every job applicant.
  • Successful candidates joining the carsales are required to undergo a National Police Record check and must have full-time Australian working rights on an ongoing basis.

So come and join our team - because every role is a big role in our plans to go big.
