The Position
Reporting into the CEO, the role of Grain Trader will be responsible for business-critical elements related to the company’s commercial activity.
These include:
- Develop and implement a trading strategy for the business, ensuring oversight and accountability across the acquisition, trading and merchandising of product.
- Negotiate trades, strategy development, pricing, manage commodity positions and optimise all relevant portfolio areas.
- Regularly visit, engage and communicate with growers, year-round.
- A strong understanding of pricing points, grower seller activity, storage requirements and yield expectations aligned with the trade strategy.
- Foster and develop relationships with end user stakeholders to ensure a seamless, integrated end-to-end sales process.
- Work efficiently with client transport, logistics, site management and administration teams to ensure smooth execution of contracts.
- Identify market trends and look for commercial opportunities to continue to grow client business.
The successful person will have an established network within the Australian grains industry and experience connecting and managing relationships with growers and end user markets. Previous experience working in a grain/commodity trader role will be highly beneficial, along with a strong knowledge and understanding of GTA trade rules and contractual obligations.
You will be a natural self-starter, responsible for driving activity across this section of the business. You will have a true passion for the sector as well as an entrepreneurial approach towards business. This role has flexibility with its location, however regular travel into the Riverina will be required.
